The Insolvency and Recovery Congress, organized by the Portuguese Association for Insolvency and Recovery Law (APDIR), took place this Friday, November 11, in Lisbon, under the theme \u201cInsolvency Without Borders.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIn a world with increasingly fluid borders, where entrepreneurs, commercial companies, assets, and financial flows move across various jurisdictions, the challenge becomes ever more complex for insolvency professionals,\u201d<\/em><\/strong> APDIR wrote, ahead of the event. \u201cPortugal is doubly involved in these dynamics, both as a Member State of the European Union, which has yet to fully absorb the latest Directive and is already preparing for the next one, and as a pivotal country in the Lusophone sphere, maintaining privileged commercial relationships with a community of over 260 million people.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The congress highlighted Insolvency and Recovery, both in Angola and Brazil, as well as the Preventive Restructuring Directive and the EU Directive Proposal (which harmonizes certain aspects of Insolvency Law).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The event opened with a keynote speech by Paulo Val\u00e9rio, a lawyer at VFA, executive director of APDIR, and the congress’s scientific coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Paulo Val\u00e9rio then went on to be the moderator on one of the panels, focused on Insolvency and Recovery in Brazil.
